It’s been a year of beautiful songs.
I hope they gave you as much joy as I got listening to them.
Here they are, all 367 of them, waiting for you to listen again.

I Can’t Tell You Why – Eagles

A slow ballad from the masters themselves, to warm your heart on those cold, lonely nights of winter, just don’t listen to the lyrics. I bet you can’t.

Lyrics:

Look at us baby, up all night
Tearing our love apart
Aren’t we the same two people who live
through years in the dark?
Ahh…
Every time I try to walk away
Something makes me turn around and stay
And I can’t tell you why

When we get crazy,
it just ain’t to right,
(try to keep you head, little girl)
Girl, I get lonely, too
You don’t have to worry
Just hold on tight
(don’t get caught in your little world)
‘Cause I love you
Nothing’s wrong as far as I can see
We make it harder than it has to be
and I can’t tell you why
no, baby, I can’t tell you why
I can’t tell you why
No, no, baby, I can’t tell you why
I can’t tell you why
I can’t tell you why

Do That To Me One More Time – Captain & Tennille

One of my favorite dance songs. It always did the trick on those dance parties in high school.

Lyrics:

Do that to me one more time
Once is never enough with a man like you
Do that to me one more time
I can never get enough of a man like you, oh

Kiss me like you just did
Oh, baby, do that to me once again

Pass that by me one more time
Once just isn’t enough for my heart to hear
Whoa, tell it to me one more time
I can never hear enough while I got ya near, oh

Say those words again that you just did
Oh, baby tell it to me once again

Do that to me one more time
Once is never enough with a man like you
Whoa, do that to me one more time
I can never get enough of a man like you, oh

Kiss me like you just did
Oh baby, do that to me once again
Whoa baby, do that to me once again
Whoa baby, do that to me one more time

(Do it again)
One more time
(Do it again)
One more time

(Do it again)
One more time
(Do it again)
One more time

(Do it again)
One more time
(Do it again)
One more time

Ring My Bell – Anita Ward

One of the best songs of the disco era. The song was meant, initially, as an innocent take on teenagers talking on the phone, but it was rewritten before the release to a not-so-innocent version, at least according to Urban Dictionary 🙂

Lyrics:

I’m glad you’re home, well, did you really miss me?
I guess you did by the look in your eye
(Look in your eye, look in your eye)
Well, lay back and relax, while I put away the dishes
(Away the dishes)
Then you and me can rock a bell

You can ring my bell, ring my bell
You can ring my bell, ring my bell
You can ring my bell, ring my bell
You can ring my bell, ring my bell

The night is young and full of possibilities
Well, come on and let yourself be free
My love for you, so long I’ve been savin’
(Love for you, love for you)
Tonight was made for me and you

You can ring my bell, ring my bell
(Ring my bell, ding-dong-ding, ah)
You can ring my bell, ring my bell
(Ring my bell, ring-a-ling-a-ling)

You can ring my bell, ring my bell
(Ring my bell, ding-dong-ding, ah)
You can ring my bell, ring my bell
(Ring my bell, ring-a-ling-a-ling)

You can ring my bell, you can ring my bell
Ding, dong, ding, ah, ring it
You can ring my bell, anytime, anywhere
Ring it, ring it, ring it, ring it, ow

You can ring my bell, you can ring my bell
Ding, dong, ding, ah, ring it
You can ring my bell, anytime, anywhere
Ring it, ring it, ring it, ring it, ow

You can ring my bell, ring my bell
(Ring my bell, ding-dong-ding, ah)
You can ring my bell, ring my bell
(Ring my bell, ring-a-ling-a-ling)

You can ring my bell, ring my bell
(Ring my bell, ding-dong-ding, ah)
You can ring my bell, ring my bell
(Ring my bell, ring-a-ling-a-ling)

Do You Feel Like We Do – Peter Frampton

Oh, no, another song about partying all night long. And we sure did. It was about the time I got my first pair of jeans, a US Top. I thought they were coming straight from America, but they were probably made in Turkey. They served me well, nonetheless. And I was a 32, wow!

Lyrics:

Well, woke up this morning with a wine glass in my hand.
Whose wine? What wine? Where the hell did I dine?
Must have been a dream I don’t believe where I’ve been.
Come on, let’s do it again.

Do you…you, feel like I do?
How’d ya feel?
Do you…you, feel like I do?

My friend got busted, just the other day.
They said,”Don’t walk, don’t walk, don’t walk away.”
Drove him to a taxi, bent the boot, hit the bag.
Had to play some music, wonder why’s he [brag or drag].

Do you…you, feel like I do?
How’d ya [turns from mic, can’t catch it]?
Do you…you, feel like I…

Do you…you, feel like I do?
Yes ya do.
Do you…you, feel like I do?

Champagne for breakfast and a Sherman in my hand.
Peached up, Peached Ale, never fails.
Must have been a dream I don’t believe where I’ve been.
Come on, let’s do it again.

Do you…you, feel like I do?
How’d ya feel?
Do you…you, feel like I…

Do you feel like we do?
Do you feel like we do?
Oh, that’s true.
Do you feel like we do?
Get back.
Do you feel..do you feel like we do?

Oh baby do you feel?
Oh baby do you feel, feel like we do?
Do you feel…do you feel…like we do?
I want to thank you.
Do you feel like we do?
That’s alright, that’s alright to feel you’d like,
Feel you’d like, a good time.
We’ll go to bed and good night.
Good time, good time, good time, good time, good time.

Dirty Love – Frank Zappa

Don’t feel bad if you’ve never heard of Frank Zappa. It’s not the kind of music you’ll hear on radio, well, for those that still use a radio to listen to music.
My first encounter with Frank Zappa, the symbol, not the music, was in high school, when I was doing my monthly round at the school’s cafeteria. I was picked to help the driver get some supplies, and we went to this warehouse downtown. When we walked into the office, there was this cute girl, and she was wearing a button with Frank Zappa. He looked like an alien, and I couldn’t take my eyes off of that button. The girl thought I was starring at something else.

Frank was a man of many talents, and his music was hard to categorize.
One of my favorite quotes is also attributed to him:
So many books, so little time!

He, indirectly, contributed to the creation of one of the most recognizable guitar riffs of all time, and I am talking about Deep Purple’s Smoke On The Water. The song tells the story of a fire that burned down the Montreaux Casino, back in 1971, during a Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention concert. Luckily nobody was badly hurt, and we were left with another beautiful song.

Lyrics:

Give me
Your dirty love
Like you might surrender
To some dragon in your dreams

Give me
Your dirty love
Like a pink donation
To the dragon in your dreams

I don’t need your sweet devotion
I don’t want your cheap emotion
Whip me up some dragon lotion
For your dirty love
Your dirty love

Give me
Your dirty love
Like some tacky little pamphlet
In your daddy’s bottom drawer

Give me
Your dirty love
I don’t believe you never seen
His book before

I don’t need no consolation
I don’t want your reservation
I only got one destination
And that’s your dirty love
Your dirty love

Give me
Your dirty love
Just like your mama
Make her fuzzy poodle do

Give me
Your dirty love
The way your mama
Make that nasty poodle chew

Ill ignore your cheap aroma
And your little-bo-peep diploma
I’ll just put you in a coma
With some dirty love
Some dirty love
That dirty love
That dirty love

The poodle bites!
(come on, frenchie)
The poodle chews it!
(snap it!)
